Ahead of Mike Evans correct to re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he looked in with Baker Mayfield.
The receiver and quarterback each lost in the offseason as pending isolated brokers the Buccaneers expressed pastime in holding. However sooner than Evans was once prepared to go back, he sought after a greater figuring out of ways Mayfield was once feeling.
So when Evans made up our minds to re-sign with the Bucs on a two-year deal worth up to $52 million, Mayfield’s condition was once a part of that attention.
“I mean, I’m extremely confident,” Evans mentioned Friday when requested about his self belief in Baker’s go back. “I’m not 100 percent, but he played really great for us last year, the city took him in, the players loved him — hopefully we get him back. But he should do what’s best for him.
“Me and Baker, we performed one season in combination. I believe like we will manufacture on what we did latter past, so with a bit of luck we get him again. He’s a hell of a participant. I recognize him. They’re moving to deal with their procedure, and I agree with [general manager] Jason [Licht] and the entrance place of job it doesn’t matter what occurs.”
Their lone season together was a success as Evans posted 79 receptions, 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns on 136 targets. The duo also helped lead Tampa Bay to a first-place finish in the NFC South and a wild-card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I simply need what’s highest for him,” Evans said. “I believe what’s highest for him could be to play games with me and Chris [Godwin], however there’s a bundle of splendid receivers on this league that would utility his products and services as smartly.”
For his part, Licht said there have been “excellent conversations” between him and Mayfield’s team, and that he expects to be “on name” this weekend and days before legal tampering is allowed. He said he will not panic during this process and is confident things will work out.
“I’m a assured individual on the whole,” Licht said. “I’m assured that we’re moving to be hanging our highest bottom ahead. We’ll have extra items, I will ensure you that.”
